Daniel Padilla and Kathryn Bernardo, who are a famous couple, are nominated for the 2023 Seoul International Drama Awards (SDA) in the Outstanding Asian Star category.
This group honors six artists from six different countries: South Korea, China, Thailand, Japan, and Taiwan. People can also vote for artists from other countries, though.
Along with KathNiel, “Maria Clara at Ibarra” actress Barbie Forteza, singer Julie Anne San Jose, and former SDA winner Dennis Trillo are also up for the award.
Korean artists Lee Je-hoon from “Taxi Driver,” Park Eun-bin from “Extraordinary Attorney Woo,” Girls’ Generation member Yoon-ah, and ex-lovers Song Joong-ki and Song Hye-Kyo will compete against each other in this category.
The Idolchamp Artist Award is a new category at the awards show. It was made because K-pop is so famous around the world, and idols from ENHYPEN, PENTAGON, and Girls’ Generation are nominated.
Kim Ho-joong and Baekhyun from EXO are up for the award for Outstanding Drama Original Soundtrack. The people will vote on all three of these awards using the voting app “Idolchamp.”
The winners of the 18th Seoul International Drama Awards, which will be held on September 21, will be announced.
The SDA had already said that 344 series from 44 countries and regions, the most ever, were sent in this year. Among them were 15 from Turkey, which had been hit by earthquakes, and a first-time entry from Greece.
Some of the shows that want to be known are “The Glory,” “Extraordinary Attorney Woo,” “Bargain,” “Anna,” “Accused,” “War of Trap,” and “First Love, Hatsukoi” from Japan, and “Finding the Rainbow” from Thailand.
The SDA organizers said, “It’s true that this is one of the best and most successful series on the market, but we also know that every single entry is the result of the hard work of many people.” “We are proud to say that the SDA is the only festival in Korea where we can meet series from Greece, Norway, Israel, and Australia, among other places.”
Belle Mariano of Kapamilya won the Outstanding Asian Star award last year. Alden Richards and Dingdong Dantes are two other Filipinos who have also won at the SDA.
